Description

LA2050 is a community-guided initiative driving and tracking progress toward a shared vision for the future of Los Angeles. Our mission is to engage and activate Angelenos to shape the future of the region and make LA the best place to learn, create, play, connect, and live by the year 2050.

We do this through:

  • Researching and reporting on LA’s trajectory and the solutions to place LA on a successful path forward

  • Highlighting the stories and work of Awesome Angelenos and civic organizations shaping the future of our region for the better

  • Setting an optimistic and ambitious roadmap for the region

  • Designing activations, hosting events and trainings, and driving digital communications to educate and empower Angelenos to take action on important issues impacting their future

  • Activating and mobilizing Angelenos via our grants challenges to achieve a vision of Los Angeles that ensures prosperity for all residents

 

Internships are paid. Interns should be able to commit 15-20 hours per week total over the course of 3 days. The ideal start date is as soon as possible, ending in late June. There is an opportunity for this internship to be extended.

 

Duties:

  • Help the LA2050 with managing operations and logistics for its signature grants program

  • Assist with research projects and analyzing data related to the LA2050 reports

  • Assist with planning, outreach, programming, and logistical support for events

  • Assist with curation of social media content

  • Provide support on administrative needs, as needed

 

We're looking for the following experience, attributes and style:

  • A student currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited university or community college

  • An organized individual who is able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and calmly

  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work

  • Humility and grace to work effectively with others in a collaborative workplace to tasks large and small

  • Ability to take initiative and produce self-directed work

  • Resourcefulness and high researching ability

  • Proficiency and speed in completing tasks and a high sense of urgency

  • Positive energy and sense of humor

  • An interest in social innovation, philanthropy, and how the two relate to Los Angeles

  • Passionate about the LA2050 mission and be able to clearly articulate our vision

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Docs and basic social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
