Goldhirsh Foundation + LA2050 Design Intern

About the role

The Design Internship is a semester-long opportunity to work with the LA social sector in visual design, branding, and marketing with Goldhirsh Foundation and LA2050 grantees. The Intern will learn about the intersection of design and nonprofit organizations and will support impact organizations with their branding and design assets.

The Design Intern will report to the Design Coordinator, who will act as a project manager between the Intern and the organization.

To help achieve our mission, we are seeking to add a paid design intern to our team for the spring semester. We’re looking for someone who loves creating engaging content and who is driven, dynamic, creative, passionate about all things Los Angeles. This position requires up to 20 hours a week.

What you’ll do:

  • Design for a variety of projects, such as campaigns, digital media content, presentations

  • Generate ideas for and correspond with client on project needs

  • Brainstorm and follow an idea from concept to production

  • Participate in weekly design check-ins

  • Produce strategy of design concepts to enhance the organization and its overall brand

  • Report to and work alongside the Design Coordinator

  • Research and apply best practices and emerging trends + innovations in digital content


How to know you’re a great fit:

  • Passionate about LA and helping shape its future for the better

  • Self-starter who can follow brand guidelines, and still think creatively and non-traditionally to solve problems

  • Well-versed in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop. After Effects a plus.

  • Relevant internship experience working in design, marketing, and digital content

  • Organized, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and calmly

  • An enthusiastic, humble, graceful, and collaborative approach to work

  • Ability to take initiative and produce self-directed work

  • Resourcefulness and high researching ability

  • Interest in applying design to support shaping the future of Los Angeles
