Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President of Development will lead a multifaceted development department which obtains funds from both public and private sources to help meet GSC’s annual operating budget and new initiatives. Overseeing all aspects of GSC’s development efforts, this leadership role is an opportunity to fulfill an ambitious vision, reimagine the department’s methods, and to further an important mission. The Vice President of Development will be responsible for planning, developing, directing, and executing a comprehensive, effective development program consistent with GSC’s mission. As a key leader, this person will provide active leadership in developing and articulating fundraising strategy and goals including an anticipated campaign. This position will also be responsible for expanding GSC’s donor base, with particular focus on identifying and cultivating the next generation of major donors. The Vice President will lead a total staff of eight. Candidates should have extensive knowledge of the principles and strategies that span major gifts, campaigns, annual giving, and planned giving. Candidates will be expected to have experience leading and articulating a vision and plan for fundraising. The Vice President for Development should have a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible and successful fundraising experience, management experience and experience staffing board committees. Experience working in or a strong understanding of the Southern California region is a plus. A bachelor’s degree is required; a graduate degree is preferred.
