Summary:
Bicycle Transit Systems (Bike Transit) aims to be the global leader in bike share system implementation and operation. Leveraging over 25 years combined experience of our staff in sustainable transportation, Bike Transit brings a new approach to the planning, implementation and operation of bike share systems.


In partnership with Los Angeles Metro, Bike Transit launched the Downtown Los Angeles Pilot Bike Share Program, Metro Bike, with approximately 61 stations and 700 bicycles. This year we have expanded to over 1,300 bicycles in Pasadena, Venice and The Port of Los Angeles. Future rapid expansion of up to 4,000 bikes bicycles is anticipated in the following years. Our mission is to make bike share a healthy, easy, accessible, and enjoyable way to get around Los Angeles.


We are seeking a Project Manager to lead the next step of Transit Access Pass (TAP) integration between Metro, BCycle and Bike Transit backend systems.

This position is a key leadership position in our rapidly growing company. The Project Manager will be the key local leader to lead this project that integrates all aspects of the LA County Bike Share program, working under the General Manager and the IT Director. This position requires a high-performing individual who can deliver results under pressure and enjoys being at the center of the hurricane. A strong written and verbal communicator, someone with strong quantitative skills, an inclination towards technical understanding, and ultimately, a strong leader to take the helm of this important and high profile project. This role has significant scope for career development in a fast growing company in an exciting industry.

Primary​ ​Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the TAP integration project (Project) until its completion, ensuring that all requirements are addressed and all steps of the Project are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with the scope of work, working directly with the backend software provider BCycle, Bicycle Transit Systems IT & Customer Service Departments, LA Metro and their 3rd party developer, Vertiba:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the different software and systems involved with the Project and the scope of work.
  • Consult all parties and identify the critical pathway for successful delivery of the Project.
  • Facilitate open and transparent communication with all stakeholders.
  • Follow up and communicate with the Project team and Management during all steps of the Project, adjust timeline if necessary, be the point person to clarify questions if necessary.
  • Involvement with testing, in collaboration with all concerned departments at Bicycle Transit Systems (Customer Service, Sales & Marketing, IT, Data, Finance), BCycle and Metro.
  • Implement the aspects of the Project related to Bike Transit operations, including training teams, writing guidelines and SOPs.
  • Ensure that continuous progress is being made on the Project with adherence to Metro Bike Share policies, contracts, and budgets.
  • Create, implement, improve, and share best practices that are related to the Project.
  • Ensure strict adherence to policies and procedures that are related to the Project.
  • Forecast expenses, and manage to a budget for potential further integration phases.
  • Transmit data sets for test purposes in a timely manner. Perform tests and highlight discrepancies to ensure that calculated data are ultimately correct within the new platform.
  • Maintain strong client and vendor relations.
  • Comply with all contract legal and filing requirements.
  • Report results to clients and internal management.
  • Ensure overall success of Bicycle Transit Systems in leading the Project with Metro and BCycle.
     

Requirements

  • College degree in business administration, engineering, transportation or related field required. Advanced degree a plus. The ideal candidate will also have their PMP Certification.
  • 5+ years IT Project Management experience required. Experience with B-to-C application project management with cloud-based Point of Sale system experience preferred.
  • Experience with managing projects utilizing the Agile methodology, and a deep understanding of the Solutions Development Lifecycle.
  • Ability to identify priorities and focus on critical tasks
  • Must have demonstrated workforce leadership experience
  • Experience working with government, businesses
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and problem solving skills
  • Valid driver license and a clean driving record.
  • Passion for bikes, efficiency, or sustainability a plus
     

Compensation​ ​range
Competitive salary DOE.
