Is a career goal to run a non-profit organization or head your own fundraising department? Friends of the Los Angeles River (FoLAR) is searching for an intern to support its Development operations in the areas of annual fund, major gifts, grants, and special events funding. We are in need of a meticulous individual to update and maintain our donor database, compile funder informational packets, and assist with short writing assignments. We are a friendly team of dedicated River advocates looking to provide you with a valuable work experience this summer. The Development Intern reports to the Director of Development and Development Coordinator. Full Position Responsibilities: ·Prepare informational materials for funder meetings ·Gather supporting documentation for grant proposals and reports ·Maintain donor database by adding or updating contacts and cleaning up existing information ·Answer and/or route questions about fundraising-related issues ·Track funder engagement activities ·Conduct special mail outs for funding appeals ·Execute mailings and collecting RSVPs for special donor events ·Send weekly acknowledgment receipts and thank you letters ·Seek out new sources of funding by conducting prospect research ·Assist with short writing assignments ·Other duties as assigned Qualifications: ·Professional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills ·Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills ·Ability to suggest new processes to improve efficiency ·Proficiency working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and/or equivalent Google program ·Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment ·Strong customer service ethic Full or Part Time:20-40 hours per week Compensation:Small stipend
